The 8 Mile Fire was started 5 days ago by lightening in a steep canyon on BLM lands northeast of Canon City, CO. It stayed about an acre or less in size for a few days then grew to 75-100 acres until today when strong and gusty winds caused it to blow up to around 700 acres per BLM.
